Mosborough Today

Mosborough is situated 7.4 miles from Rotherham, 5.9 miles from Sheffield & 6.8 miles from Chesterfield, as the crow flies and was until the 1960's part of Derbyshire.

Mosborough was occupied by the Romans, and traces of their occupation can be found in the entire district, several of their roads, having been built across the area.

For those who enjoy the countryside Mosborough is situated close to the beautiful Moss Valley which has close links with the Sitwell family of Renishaw Hall.

The Parish Church of Mosborough is dedicated to St. Mark and is a comparatively modern structure, having been erected in 1887, the fabric being of stone.

In old Mosborough the principal industries were farming , mining and the production of scythes and sickles and other agricultural tools. Although farming is  still carried out in the area, mining has almost ceased apart from a private mine in Eckington. Modern Mosborough is close to several Industrial & commercial business parks where a diverse blend of manufacturing and service industries operate.

The main shopping complex is the Crystal Peaks Centre near Beighton.
